Janice Strickland Burns, 75, went to be with her Lord on January 4, 2011.

Born and raised in Richmond, VA and lived in Crozet, VA prior to settling in Williamsburg, VA in 1996. She attended John Marshall High School and graduated in 1954 and enjoyed a career in health care following.

She is survived by her three children, Miller Jeter and wife, Sandra, of Richmond, VA; Connie Kilmon and husband, John, of Williamsburg, VA; Stacey Knox and husband, David, of Seaford, VA. She had seven grandchildren, Stephanie Tumlin, Jennifer Beagle, Brennen Kilmon, Bonnie Knox, Kacey Knox, Michelle Kilmon and Cindy Amos; five great grandchildren and was expecting a sixth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Burns; her father, George W. Strickland; mother, Lillie Rogers; sister, Mary S. Wagner; and grandsons, Adam Jeter and Cameron Amos.

Janice was an active member of the Smith Memorial Baptist Church family and absolutely loved attending the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

The family will receive visitors at Smith Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, January 7, 2011 beginning at 11:00 AM, with a service immediately following at 12:00 noon. There will be a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, VA at 3:00 PM.

Contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of Virginia, P.O. Box 846, Lightfoot, VA 23090. Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg, in charge of arrangements.
